Elba Linscott is our new Marketing Program Manager. She comes to us with over 12 years of program management experience at companies like Intuit and Cisco. She is also a proud member of the YWCA Silicon Valley Board of Directors, whose mission is to eliminate racism and empower women.

She loves technology (no surprise there!) and she’s a big fan of meeting new people. Let’s meet her!

Background

Born and raised in Mexico City, from an early age Elba found an affinity for the technical world. Seizing what she feels was an amazing opportunity to go and study in the United States, she attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. After graduating with a BS in MIS and Computer Science, she then went on to earn an MBA from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA.

Throughout her career, Elba has had the opportunity to work in a wide variety of capacities, including: B2B, Data, BI, IT, Mobile and Marketing.

She lives in San Jose, California with her husband Darren and her sons Christopher and Matthew.

Elba’s Role at Making Sense

Elba has the important job of heading up MS’s leading marketing programs in the Bay Area. Her role keeps her busy creating strategies for lead generation and nurturing, maximizing contact with our strategic partners, and strengthening Making Sense’s presence in a variety of channels.

Her Thoughts About Being a Woman in the Tech Industry

Elba feels that women bring a much-needed diversity of thinking to the tech industry. She likes to point out that there are many studies showing that diverse companies are more likely to outperform their less diverse counterparts. A team comprised of ‘diverse minds’, that is- people who have different ways of approaching problems- is going to be better at finding innovative solutions. And diversity comes in many forms, whether it’s demographic diversity or a diversity of thinking styles.

Zooming in, Elba states that for her, the best part of being a woman in the tech industry is working with smart and talented women.

A Broad Look at Change in the Industry

Elba’s career has spanned several key areas of tech and marketing, affording her a broad outlook on the industry. The technical knowledge she brings with her to this role at our company is indeed valuable, but her perspective is equally important as she begins to explore new directions for marketing at Making Sense.

So we asked her, ‘What do you consider to be the most important event in tech in recent years?’

Her answer was both fascinating and inspirational: the single most important event has been the fact that companies are now realizing the importance of diversity and inclusion and how these mindsets increase innovation, growth and ROI.

Businesses have caught on to this, which is why diversity and Inclusion have now become a priority for most companies. As a result, we are seeing more businesses implementing many new exciting programs and initiatives.

Lots to do, But Everyone Needs to Unwind

The goals Elba has set for herself in her new role at MS are ambitious and exciting. Like everyone here, she loves her work and works hard. But we’re all about the work-life balance at Making Sense, so it’s good to know Elba knows how to unwind, too!

In her free time, Elba enjoys swimming (weather permitting!), reading novels, watching documentaries and going to the beach. Most of all, she loves spending time with her family. When asked how she would define herself, Elba answered with three words:

Energetic, collaborative and diligent.

From what we’ve seen so far with her outstanding work, we’d say we wholeheartedly agree!

Looking Forward to a Great New Collaboration

Elba’s impressive technical knowledge, combined with her experience working at some of the world’s top tech firms in Silicon Valley, means that we here at Making Sense can look forward to lots of valuable insight in the months and years to come.

We’re so happy and proud to have her on our team!
